Wow... it has been a while, so much for posting more often. We've been so busy here getting ready for winter that I haven't had time for much else. But we have accomplished so much.....
The new dog truck is almost ready to be put into use. All we have left to do is hoist the box onto the flatbed and we're good to go! We will be busy this week filling in the many complicated excavations the dogs worked so hard to create this summer.... and building new floors in the barn for the horses. I'm sure they'll love that this winter, but even more so this spring when everything melts. No more mud! YEAH!
This will be a fun and exciting mushing season. We will be the support crew for our dear friend Wayne Hall while he runs the Yukon Quest International Sleddog Race. It'll be fun to use the new truck for this race. And, we'll have a great crew, which will come in handy during the race, but especially for the Dawson City Layover... or I should say, for setting up camp for the Dawson City Layover. The more hands the better when doing labor... don't you think?
Well, back to hard labor..... until next time I check off enough from my "to do" list.... enjoy the fall weather, fresh crisp air, and soon to be arriving...... snow!!! Doing the snow dance!

The ISP Solution
Well, finally we'll be able to post and upload and email and, and, and.... well, we're just happy we finally have internet that works... what a relief. It's been a long tough year+ since Alaska Wireless shut down and finally we have a viable solution.... I do hope this means I'll find the time to post here more often (ha!)
For now.... at least we all know I can!!!

Welcome
Well, this is my first post on my first blog... I finally got the photo to upload... that's my dad. He's almost 80 and he does an awesome job driving a dog sled. He didn't even start mushing until 1999 (when he was 71 years old). He is quite the animal lover (thank goodness for him because I have a lot of them!) In fact, we have a new dog and I think she should be named Velcro because she just won't leave dad's side. She seems to have bonded with him and doesn't like him to be out of her sight. It's quite cute.
Well, we hope you like our blog, and hopefully I'll be able to post here fairly often with updates on our crazy life here in Alaska.
Spring is definitely on it's way, but I think it has been taking some side trips. Although, in Prudhoe the birds are coming. We've been seeing the arrival of the Greater White Fronted Geese, Tundra Swans and others... so that should be enough evidence that spring really is on it's way. Hopefully the King Eiders and Loons will be here soon, so we can enjoy watching them.
Foxes will be having babies soon, the Musk Ox are just now delivering their newborn babies, and the grizzlies are up and around already.
Now, if I can catch the Caribou migration across the slope and the Polar Bears when they are waiting for the sea ice to come in.... it'll be a nice summer.
Happy Trails...
